What do we do? We grant scholarships and educational credits, through public competitions, to talented Peruvians with limited economic resources, giving them access and permanence to a quality higher education, until its completion. In addition, we developed a comprehensive support model throughout the life cycle of the beneficiary, through modern, efficient, transparent and service-oriented management. Our mission We work to achieve a more equitable society, promoting access, retention and completion of quality higher education for talented people with limited economic resources. In recent years, we have implemented a series of initiatives to promote greater inclusion and permanence of the poorest or most vulnerable populations in the different scholarships we offer. Thus, in the calls for the most representative scholarships, such as Beca 18 and Beca Permanencia, the percentage of applicants and scholarship recipients in conditions of poverty and extreme poverty has risen significantly. In Beca 18, it went from 59.1% in 2012 to 89.6% in 2020; and in Beca Permanencia, from 74.2% in 2016 to 96.3% in 2019. Likewise, the participation of applicants from different districts at the national level increased from 937 in 2012 to 1,837 districts in 2020 in Beca 18. Similarly, there have been been implementing various strategies to promote the permanence of scholarship holders in higher education, especially those most vulnerable. Thanks to these actions, the scholarship loss rate in the first year of studies has decreased considerably, from 10% in 2012 to 3.7% in 2020.
